Does Annotated read every page I visit?
No. Passage/timing extraction starts only after you click the extension or its selection-menu action. There is no always-on page scraping, persistent content script, or broad host permission.
What does source-tab recording capture?
After its separate rights checkbox and Record click, it records the visible contents and audio of only the invoked active tab for your chosen interval. It may include more than the target media element, but never browser chrome or other tabs. Chrome shows an indicator; the panel offers Stop/discard and auto-stops by 90 seconds. Podcast mode is audio-only.
Why does a source clip stop at 90 seconds?
Ninety seconds is a hard product ceiling, not a target or a statement about legal rights. Use the shortest excerpt that fairly supports your context and only share material you are authorized to re-host.
Can I preview a media draft without recording the source?
Yes. You can save and preview a video or podcast draft without a source clip. Before publishing that media annotation, Annotated requires you to complete the separate rights acknowledgment and source Record step.
Why am I asked to confirm sharing rights again?
A source clip's saved attestation must be no more than 24 hours old when it transfers and uploads. The extension can renew that confirmation without re-recording your clip; the website then asks once more at Publish.
Where are unfinished drafts and recordings stored?
Draft summaries and preview history use extension storage; voice and source-clip blobs use browser IndexedDB. Opening Preview can copy recordings into this site's IndexedDB. You can discard site staging directly; records older than 24 hours are removed when Preview next runs cleanup. The extension copy is separate, so use Clear local data there when you want to remove it too.
Does Preview publish or upload my draft?
No. Preview metadata starts in the new tab fragment, which is not included in its HTTP request. Local recording bytes use one-time five-minute transfers. Authenticated Publish is the separate action that writes product data and private media.
How do I challenge an annotation?
Use File a claim on the affected annotation. It stores a private intake and returns a reference ID; there is no public status-tracking portal or automated legal decision.
How do I withdraw permission for my claimant statement?
This release does not send claimant login or revocation links. Use the private support form below, choose Privacy or data request, and include the claim reference returned at submission plus the same contact email. This stores a request for manual review; it does not automatically notify the creator and may require verification. Once the request reaches the annotation creator, they can immediately remove the statement from public display without deleting the private case record.
